My first photo-shoot

I travelled to the States in September this year and while I was there I attempted my first family portrait.

My brother, Josh, and his wife, Rachael, both kindly volunteered to sit for me (as did a few other family members but I’ve been forbidden to put their shots up).

I took 300 photos of which 2 were good. This is not the nature of my clients, ahem victims, but the nature of the job. 300 was light, next time I will be expecting to shoot in the 1000s.

Anyway, they are still choosing their favourites and to help them, I made a video. I invite you to sit back and enjoy minutes of your life that you will never get back.

*the best shots are in the last 30 seconds.

Unstyle: Pink Sofas

When I was younger we use to live up in the northwest of Western Australia. My Mum ordered some sofas on the basis of a 2cmx2cm swatch of fabric. The swatch was cream with a little pink. The sofas were not.

A pink and cream sofa with red cushions.

Never again has a sofa been ordered from a swatch of fabric.

Retro cool?

Apparently the matching coffee tables were so revolting that cardboard boxes were an improvement.

Guess what is under the cloth!

And finally, la piece de resistance:

My father might have been responsible for this aesthetically pleasing decoration.

Stellagram: first day at school.

These photos are being posted a bit late but actually Stella started school late this year. I wanted to join the annual-photograph-outside-the-front-door-on-the-first-day-of-school tradition and Stella cooperated . . . reluctantly.

Mum why? Come on. Let's go.

She's already got her "Say Cheese!" smile nailed.

Ahh kiddo: you’ve got YEARS of this ahead.

Modeling the gear.

She kissed me goodbye and ran into the classroom. I smiled and said “have a great day!” Then I ran to the car and cried all the way home.

In other news. Stella has been spending time with a dog recently. Now, back at home with a cat . . .

It's not going too well.

Still the most precious thing to me on this earth.
